The story
This section tells the history of the world of Borderlands 2
The opening cutscene introduces the four new Vault Hunters as they ride a train on Pandora. However, the train is a trap set by Handsome Jack, and it explodes. The Vault Hunters regain consciousness in a frozen wasteland and are found by the last remaining Hyperion CL4P-TP ("Claptrap") unit. The Guardian Angel contacts the Vault Hunters and instructs them to accompany Claptrap to the city of Sanctuary, and to join the Crimson Raiders, an anti-Hyperion resistance movement, in order to defeat Handsome Jack. Claptrap and the Vault Hunters are able to escape the frozen wastes after defeating Captain Flynt, the local bandit leader, and retaking Claptrap's boat. Along the way, Handsome Jack taunts the Vault Hunters, while the Guardian Angel offers advice and comfort. Upon arriving at the gates of Sanctuary, the Vault Hunters are asked to rescue Roland, now leader of the Crimson Raiders, who has been captured by a bounty hunter called the Firehawk. The Vault Hunters meet the Firehawk, who turns out to be Lilith(an existing and playable character in Borderlands), whose powers as a siren have been significantly enhanced by the new supply of eridium. Lilith informs the Vault Hunters that Roland was actually captured by a group of bandits. After fighting through the bandits' territory, the Vault Hunters rescue Roland and return to Sanctuary. Roland and Lilith learn that the Vault Key is being transported aboard a Hyperion train, and task the Vault Hunters to retrieve it. To accomplish the mission, the Vault Hunters enlist the aid of former Vault Hunter Mordecai, and of Tiny Tina, a psychotic explosives-obsessed thirteen-year-old. The Vault Hunters derail the train, but instead of finding the Vault Key, they encounter Wilhelm, a powerful Hyperion cyborg. After Wilhelm's defeat, the Vault Hunters recover his power core, which Roland recommends be used as the power source for Sanctuary's shields. The power core turns out to be a trap; it allows the Guardian Angel, who is actually working for Jack, to lower the city's shields and render it vulnerable to a bombardment from the Hyperion moon satellite. Lilith saves Sanctuary, which was originally a large spacecraft, by activating its engines and teleporting it away; for the rest of the game, Sanctuary exists as a flying city in the sky. Jack's true plan is revealed: to open Pandora's second Vault and unleash The Warrior, a powerful lava, eridium, and rock creature controlled by whomever releases it. Additionally, he is forcing Angel to help him charge the Vault Key more quickly than usual. Angel communicates with the group in Sanctuary, and despite hostile treatment from Roland, divulges that the Vault Key is kept with her in a Hyperion facility. She also shares information about the formidable defenses of the facility. The Vault Hunters embark upon a series of missions in order to assemble what is needed to overcome these defenses, including obtaining an upgrade for Claptrap, visiting the Hyperion city of Opportunity, and enlisting the aid of Brick, now leader of the Slab clan of bandits. During the process, Mordecai's pet bird Bloodwing is captured and killed by Handsome Jack; a grief-stricken Mordecai vows revenge and joins the other three former Vault Hunters at Sanctuary. Roland and the Vault Hunters assault the Hyperion compound and meet Angel, who is not only a real person, but a siren, and Handsome Jack's daughter. She requests to be killed in order to stop her father from charging the Vault Key and gaining control of The Warrior. Handsome Jack sends in waves of security forces in order to protect his daughter, but ultimately, Roland and the Vault Hunters, with the help of late arrival Lilith, successfully kill Angel. An enraged Handsome Jack teleports in, kills Roland, and captures Lilith, whom he forces to resume charging the Vault Key in Angel's stead. Lilith manages to teleport the Vault Hunter out of the facility and back to Sanctuary. Mordecai and Brick decide to learn the location of the second Vault and confront Handsome Jack and The Warrior. While the Vault Hunters travel to the Hyperion Information Annex and obtains the Vault's location, the two steal a Hyperion ship. The Vault Hunters approach on foot, battling elite Hyperion security forces, while Brick and Mordecai are shot down but left alive. Ultimately, the Vault Hunters confront, battle, and defeat Handsome Jack himself, but arrive too late to prevent him from opening the Vault. Handsome Jack summons The Warrior, a gargantuan dragon-like lava creature, and orders it to kill the Vault Hunters. After a long battle, the Vault Hunters defeat the Warrior, and executes Handsome Jack in the aftermath. Brick and Mordecai arrive just as Lilith attempts to destroy the Vault Key. However, she accidentally activates a secret information bank containing a huge map of the galaxy with several Vaults marked on it. Lilith remarks that "there ain't no rest for the wicked" before the screen fades to black.
Review of Borderlands 2 - this is how sequels should be done!
It is not often that a product representing a new brand achieves such spectacular commercial success as that of Borderlands . With almost five million copies sold of the game by Gearbox Software, this difficult art undoubtedly succeeded, and the result obtained allowed the Americans to seriously think about creating a full-fledged sequel. Today, nearly three years after the premiere of the original, the continuation expected by many officially debuts on the market. And at the outset I will reveal that this is a continuation by all means successful , and the main merit of this is the numerous improvements that the developer decided to make in the formula he developed.
These improvements can be seen on many levels, but the most striking example is the story. In the original, the story was only a background for the events on the screen, which was largely due to the way it was presented - the narrative practically did not exist, and after a few hours like unfettered slaughter we basically forgot why we had to think about it in advance. In the "two" this problem has been completely eliminated. Tasks from the bulletin board have gone practically underground, most of the missions we get from independent heroes, who always devote a moment to introducing the necessary details , thereby saving us from reading dry text.
The creators also made better use of the principals themselves. The most important people of the drama accompany us throughout the entire game, so we do not have the impression of constantly jumping from flower to flower, as in "only", where the quests were drumming from the type just met and flew to the next location. The intrigue itself has finally gained in quality. The main plot is really interesting, the script sticks together and maintains continuity, from beginning to end. There are even twists here! They may not impress as much as in other titles, but compared to the totally mutilated prototype in this respect, the difference is huge. "Two" tells more about the adventures of Brick, Lilith, Roland and Mordecai than its predecessor, and that alone should give food for thought what the gap separates the two games in this respect.
Tasks have also been worked hard. The authors clearly limited the quests of finding items that for unknown reasons were scattered in various strange places (all kinds of audiologies or pieces of poppers), instead the creators varied standard tasks for Borderlands , i.e. assassinations and courier missions. Additional optional guidelines have appeared on the list of conditions to be met, which will result in more experience points. In addition, time restrictions were introduced, sometimes forcing them to act in a hurry, and the option of choosing a prize was added. Not only that, it happens that the task can be checked off by one of two different people. In such cases, we never know what we will get for our efforts.
Most, however, enjoys what the creators did in the construction of the mission, but in their content. Quests are not only interesting, but above all fun, and sometimes totally crazy. The scriptwriters played with the convention, showing a great sense of humor. Here, nothing can be taken seriously, as you will see for yourself, looking for inspiration for the Scooter love letter or determining which member of the treasure hunter group has stolen the money they found. There are some deadly serious and reflection-provoking scenes in the game, especially in some of the missions of the main storyline, but the side quests are already riding on the whole, where absurd often chases absurdity. You will remember these words after meeting Face McShooty.
The creators of Borderlands 2 did an amazing job on the site designs. The barren wastelands known for "ones" are no longer the only attraction of Pandora. We start our visit to the planet with a stay in an icy land, and later, among others, green areas with picturesquely located waterfalls, the futuristic city of Handsome Jack, as well as areas devastated by Eridium. Five years after our last visit, the world has clearly become blush. Interestingly, a greater variety of colors and the introduction of more eye-catching territories did not negatively affect the post-apocalyptic climate. Bloodthirsty bandits, vehicles straight from Mad Max and built from just about anything settlements still remind us that we are far from paradise.
Gearbox has made many improvements in mechanics, seemingly small, but in fact quite significant. Part of the innovation is to improve the comfort of play. Such attractions include the long-awaited second type of car, which allows four people to get into it at the same time, and automatic lifting of ammunition and money located a short distance from the character, also in a situation when we drive a car. However, more significant changes occurred in the hero's development. The authors stopped rewarding with experience of the challenge (as a result, gaining new levels is a bit slower), and in return they introduced a system called Badass Rank, which allows to constantly increase some of the coefficients. Points in this system are earned just for facing challenges - the more difficult they are, the greater the profits. At the beginning bonuses received this way do not look too impressive, but in the later phase of the struggle gain value. Another thing is that everyone, even the smallest percentage addition to the maximum level of health or damage dealt in Borderlands 2 greets with open arms.
The visual setting in relation to the original has not undergone a thorough transformation - we are still dealing with a typical comic line. The artists worked harder on the backgrounds, thanks to which the locations look much more effective. From a slightly different angle, the Sanctuary, which is a starting point for players and the only safe place on Pandora, has been refined. Finally, feel that the metropolis is alive - pedestrians stroll the streets, each of them has something to say, and independent heroes do not stand like stakes, showing no signs of life. The dispassionate emptiness in the "only" strongly affected and hindered an in-depth entry into this fantastic world - here the problem disappeared completely .
The music made a great impression on me , the band with the stars in the composition (Jesper Kyd, Cris Velasco, Sascha Dikiciyan) performed much more than in the original - the songs are more lively, which fits better with the constant slaughter, and for the song strongly reminiscent of Trent's achievements Reznora from Nine Inch Nails deserves a round of applause. The rest of the audio setting was also impeccable. You can feel the power of perfectly sounded weapons in your speakers with every shot, and well-chosen actors have a positive impact on the reception of spoken issues. Another thing is that the dialogues are well written, another plus for writers.

Juan GarcíaBorderlands 2 - Analysis
Note: This review focuses on the differences of Borderlands 2 in its version for PS Vita regarding the characteristics of the versions of PS3, 360 and PC. For a...
Playing Borderlands 2 on PS Vita there is no way not to feel a little bad for the folks at Iron Galaxy . In many ways, porting this excellent 2012 release for PS3, 360 and PC to Sony's small laptop might be considered a mistake, but they have done as well as might be expected. If you think that the previous sentence could be interpreted as a compliment, it is because it is. The version of the Gearbox title coming to Vita is chock-full of octenidos, including the two downloadable characters and larger expansions. However, this means little considering the deep technical problems that this game brings, and that condition the gameplay of the experience.
Few games have had a longer life cycle than Borderlands 2 - thanks to the huge amount of downloadable content it has received. Having all those DLCs in a Vita game is one more than remarkable feature. Unfortunately cuts had to be made for this to happen - the sound has been compressed, many textures and effects have been simplified, etc. -. Even despite the excellent display on PS Vita, Borderlands 2 lacks the color and freshness of the desktop console versions and, more importantly, other PlayStation Vita titles . The Cross-Save functionality is a blessing, as is the possibility of playing online, despite the fact that the number of players has been reduced from four to two, in one more example of the cuts that have had to be made to make this possible. Borderlands 2 portable.
These tweaks are the least of our concerns with this port. Borderlands 2 has never started from its visual splendor, but from the fluidity of its action and the ease when it comes to placing our bullets between eyebrows of all kinds of monsters and bandits. Being thin, Borderlands 2 in Vita is played as if our Chamber Hunter was struggling to survive underwater with ankle weights attached. Without being as politically correct, it is almost as unplayable as a slide show . Even during the few moments in which a constant image rate is maintained, it is always below 30 per second, with random jerks that make us think that we have gone back in time to play an MMO with an old-fashioned modem . The 'hardware limitations' excuse does not apply here. Killzone: Mercenary and Uncharted: Golden Abyss have managed to show excellent performance and stunning graphics, making it more obvious that Borderlands 2 falls below the minimum required for Vita.
The coup de grace is the unsuccessful controls scheme that has been implemented, as uncomfortable and annoying in the hand as the frame rate is for the eyes. On consoles and PC, Borderlands 2 uses all available buttons, so it stands to reason that making it work well on Vita will require some sacrifice. However, placing running as important as running or melee attack on the rear touchpad wasn't exactly the best option. In addition to being a difficult to access console area, it does not work correctly half the time. Of course, controls can be redefined, but no matter how you try, two functions will always work regularly.
The sum of all these defects is simply excessive, weighing down each battle and making us feel uncomfortable. Knowing how cool these same encounters can be when I'm not playing this version of Borderlands 2 makes Iron Galaxy 's work even more frustrating.

Gianluca "Ualone" LoggiaBorderlands 2 - Review
Released three years ago, the first Borderlands was one of the most surprising games of the current generation of consoles. For its ability to amalgamate in an ...
Borderlands 2 does a very smart thing: it realizes that it is the sequel to a great piece of game and it clings strongly to the winning features of its predecessor, trying not to spoil anything that the videogame gourmets have appreciated three years ago . The graphic style, to begin with. That cute cartoon face (stuck to an excellent rearrangement of the Unreal Engine 3) is still all there. And it succeeds, if possible even more clearly, in an enterprise that - judging from what you see in other games - must be really difficult: to present a post-apocalyptic world ... with colors! Nothing gray of death. Not at all costs, at least. The world is in ruins, genetic mutations are on the agenda, deserts are wasted. Yet, oh, red, green and yellow are still visible. Even blue doesn't seem to be affected too much by toxic gases.
Even the game, in essence, has remained the same. A truly incredible mixture of role-playing and subjective shooter. A somewhat simplified World of Warcraft filled with firearms. The skeleton totally based on the quests (main and secondary, with a lot of them) is not the only thing that the Gearbox saga has borrowed from the giant of Blizzard. Even the talent trees with which the characters are built, as they rise in level, are deadly inspired by the most famous MMORPG of all time (which in the meantime, however, the talent assignment system has upset it). Even the colors that indicate the rarity and effectiveness of the weapons are the same: white is useless, with green one begins to reason, blue is good, purple and maybe orange are the ones to aim for. But the fact is this: if something works, oh, it works. Who cares who copies who, as they always say at Apple (or perhaps somewhere else, but a lot, in fact, who cares). And Borderlands 2, needless to say, works. Exactly how its predecessor worked. In fact, a little better.
All at attention in front of the work done by Gearbox.
If there was one thing, in fact, of which someone (not all, eh, someone) had complained a little about the first Borderlands, this was the script. The feeling could have been that of finding oneself to grind quests only to accumulate experience points, level up and obtain more and more powerful weapons, in order to better face even more difficult quests, and repeat the process practically indefinitely. Which, let's face it, putting it this way doesn't sound bad. And in fact it wasn't bad at all. So what? And so nothing, the story was not that great anyway. Well, the good news is that in Borderlands 2 the script and the dialogues are absolutely among the strengths of the game. But also the ways and rhythms with which the main story and the many secondary stories are proposed is truly remarkable. It is not possible to step into a quest without enjoying a written dialogue, written well. Do you have to collect five different pieces to put the pump motor together? Well. With each piece collected, the non-player character who has entrusted the task to the player will make himself heard with a joke, an encouragement, a comment of some kind. And maybe it will be interrupted by another character who will be ironic about everything. The more things you do, the more Pandora (the planet on which everything takes place) comes to life in the eyes (and ears) of the player, with grotesque anecdotes and completely insane background, which on more than one occasion manage to snatch a smile, if not a convinced laugh. And for sure they become attached to a world that results, as you move forward in the game, very well hatched.
